What is CPE?
CPE is a process of transformation. It is designed to call forth, recognize, and strengthen an individual’s unique gifts in ministry in dialogue with one’s spiritual heritage and the behavioral sciences. It involves peer and individual supervision as part of the action-reflection process. The clinical learning process provides opportunities to integrate personal and professional growth during an exciting and transforming educational experience.
Who should consider CPE?
Persons interested in chaplaincy as a career. Persons interested in becoming a Board Certified Chaplain (BCC) Seminarians who are pursuing careers in ministry Clergy who desire additional skills in pastoral care Lay leaders interested in providing pastoral care

Vineyard CPE is an affiliate Organization of CPEI that is accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC), which is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as a recognized accrediting agency and recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Is accredited by International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and is authorized to issue the IACET CEU.

CPEI is officially approved by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to offer education benefits to eligible veterans, active-duty service members, and other qualified individuals.
What do I have to do to form part of a CPE course?
1. Send us your application
2. Identify a clinical site where you can provide clinical pastoral care, such as:
Hospitals,
Nursing homes,
Charity Organizations,
Law Enforcement offices,
Fire Departments and other ministry settings.
3. Follow the CPEI administrative enrollment process.
The certificate in Clinical Pastoral Education comprises four courses (CPE 100-400) or 1600 hours. Each course requires completing 400 hours, 100 hours of structured and unstructured learning, and 300 hours of an internship. Students receive a certificate after successfully completing each course.
Vineyard CPE is Online Distance Education. The group and individual meetings are via Zoom.
BECOME A BOARD CERTIFIED CHAPLAIN
With four units of CPE you are eligible to become a Board Certified Chaplain.

Tuition $1375.00 per course.

Application requirements
Potential Clinical Internship Site: Although this may change, you need to begin thinking about a clinical internship site. These include local congregations, healthcare or hospice settings, law enforcement, corrections, etc.
Required Essays: There are four brief essays that will assist us in better understanding you and your plans for completing your training. Therefore, please take time to write these and be prepared to upload them at the time you submit your application.
– Personal History: (2-3 Pages): Provide a 2-3 page reflective autobiography. This is a description of your life story, including your family of origin and current family relationships, significant events, relationships with people that have been significant, and the impact these events and relationships have had on your development.
– Religious/Spiritual Development: (1-2 Pages): Provide a 1-2 page paper describing your religious/spiritual development. Include a description of the development of your religious/spiritual life, including events and relationships that affected your faith and currently inform your belief system.
– Ministry Encounter: (1-2 Pages): Provide a 1-2 page paper describing a ministry encounter. This is an account where you were called to help someone in need. Include the nature of the request, an assessment of the need, actions taken, and a summary. Students having completed a previous course/unit of CPE may include a case study/verbatim.
– Understanding of CPE: (1-2 Pages): Provide a 1-2 page paper answering the following question. What is your understanding of Clinical Pastoral Education, and what do you hope to gain personally and professionally?
